We call this "Yard Working". Olympic Park is Yard Working, as is Oatley -
Hurstville. The City Circle was supposed to be, but I don't know if they ever
introduced it. A big benefit would be that if a train broke down at St James,
The train behind it at Circular Quay could be authorised by telephone or train
radio to change ends and drive back to Central on the wrong running line without
any paperwork, just the signaller's say-so.
