TMF, brought to you by Adtranz

Spies allege that in the Adtranz factory at Dandenong, the TMF project has
well and truly started. A simulated workstation is running, the area of
control being Caulfield. It consists of (I think) 3 screens displaying an
overview of the tracks, 1 'work' type screen for interacting with the
system, and for the loop controllers, screens for monitoring the security
cameras.

Once commissioned, the TMF will use an integrated database, from which the
ARS, TD, PIDS, docking sheets, control graphs etc... will be automatically
generated.

This raises an interesting question, will a 'old' Metrol Panel & VDU's be
preserved. They are really very historically significant, I will even go
out on a limb and say they may be one of the earliest VDU only systems in
the English Speaking world?? It would be a pity in 25 years, when every
Tom, Dick and Harry has a boring mechanical frame, and no one has examples
of more significant technologies.

People might feel shocked at the concept, but I'm interested in preserving
Panels, processors & predictors as well as Frames, Rotary Detectors & Annett
locks.
