Standard Gauge action north of Acacia Ridge

This morning (Sunday 2nd May 99) we have had six standard gauge trains
come past here at Salisbury.

1) XPT to Bris (about an hour late around 6.45am - I was only half awake)
2) XPT to Sydney (about half an hour late around 8.15am)
3) 10.05am NR60 hauling loaded NR container train to Fisherman Island (FI)
4) 11.05am 8207 & 8218 hauling loaded Freightcorp train to FI.
5) 11.50am NR25 to Bris hauling (GSPE) Great Sth Pacific Express (17 cars)
6) 12.28pm NR60 (in Steelink livery) returning light engine from
   Fisherman Island to Acacia Ridge.

NR25 with GSPE are still to come past empty (as at 2pm) returning to
Acacia Ridge where GSPE is to be bogie exchanged.

On Monday 3rd May there is a QR Train Notice out saying there is going
to be a standard gauge crossing of trains at Clapham Yard. The Freightcorp
train remains at FI tonight and is due to leave there 9.05am Monday. It
is due to arrive Clapham 10.25am dep 10.45am while it crosses the
National Rail freight that is going out to FI. I imagine one will
travel on the line by the old signal box while the other travels on the
standard gauge line near Moorooka station.

Looks like competition for container traffic to FI is starting to hot
up between FreightCorp and National Rail.
