The triple R to Traralgon in 1998 eclipsed this, but did not go to the
authorised limit.
In Victoria, auto-coupled passenger trains were restricted to 900 t, which
is 20 E carriages or 25 Ws.
In NZ longer trains could (and did?) run.  AFAIK there were about 23 on the
final stage of the Easter safari into Auckland in 1972.
