Re: Signalling in Victoria

<<<<<<<This type of signalling is installed where the train speed is not too
fast, and the next signal can be seen clearly, as no advanced indication
of the next signal is given>>>>>>>>

Not true at all, 2 position signalling was and still is used on VR's fastest
mainlines, eg, Bendigo line.

No advanced warning??? What's a distant signal?

Its wrong to try to divide up 2 pos signalling into simple and advanced (or
whatever you called it) 2 pos signalling is 2 pos signalling

<<<<<<<<<The semaphore signals are red with a white chevron (strip) and a
square
end>>>>>>>
Chevrons are only found on distant arms, its called a "white stripe" on a home.

<<<<<<<The "Distant" signal tells the driver that at least one of the signals
is at stop (either the "home" signal or "starting" signal)>>>>>>>
What position are you talking about?

<<<<<<<<For a train to leave the controlled area and head towards the next
section (station) the "Starting" signal must be at proceed,>>>>>>>>>
Only true on double line block, on electric staff or other systems there were
no starting signals, only "home departures".

<<<<<<<All home, starting and distant signals are controlled by a lever (or
switch) in a signal box>>>>>>>
Not entirely true, there were "automatic distants" at a few places where the
distant would automatically go to proceed when all of the applicable
homes/starters were at proceed.

Thats all I've got time for right now. Nice gifs!
