High Speed Freight and Passenger Locomotives For Sale

Expressions of Interest are requested in the purchase of CM30-8 Diesel
Electric Locomotives which are high speed vehicles designed and built
for high speed freight and passenger operations.

AN Railways Commission is terminating leases of the 13 EL Class
Locomotives and Spares and acquiring them for on-sale in their current
state and condition, by Public Tender.

The locomotive configuration is a wide body type, with a streamlined (!)
operators cab, accesssed via the vestibule leading into the operators
cab. Two full length walkways are provided down each side of the
locomotive interior, and the equipment layout is modular for improved
accessiblity and maintenance.

Traction equipment is GE Dash-8 technology based on the FE7FDL12 turbo
charged diesel engine, coupled with a GMG192 alternator. Sox
permanently parallel connected GE761ANR1 traction motors, are axle hung
in the Dofasco bogie. The traction motors are in tandem arrangement
with roller breading suspension. Dynamic breaking (sic) modules give
the locomotive self-test capabilities. Locomotive traction power is
controlled by GE microCHEC and wheel slip is controtted by GE
microSENTRY.

The auxiliary alternator is mounted on the same shaft and in the same
frame as the traction alternator.

Auxiliaries are all driven by separate variable speed controlled AC
motors to minimise parasitic loads and improve fuel efficiency.

If you are interesed in purcahsing any of these locomotives, you can
obtain copies of Bid No ANR100 by contacting the Australian National
Railways Comission, Mr Lino Di Lernia, Acting Managing Director, by FAx
No. 61 8 8217 4639 or by mail at Australian National, 1 Richmond Road,
Keswick SA 5035.

Would this be the last function to be carried out by ANRC, with all of
AN and now the last of it's assets sold off, would it now be officially
wound up?

Deadline for enquiries is 30 September, so if you've ever wanted to own
your own loco (and have cash to spare), move fast!

Cheers,
CH.
