More Good News for Tasrail

Could it get any better? (Well, yes it could, but that's another story!)

"Tasrail is to take over from road transport to shift 150,000 tonnes of pine
logs a year from Tasmania's plantation forests to the Boyer newsprint mills.

"The move will reduce the number of trucks on the state's roads by about 20
a day.

"To road-to-rail transfer is contained in a five-year contract between
Launceston based transport company Llyods North Logisitcs and Tasrail."

(The Mercury, November 18, 1998 p9).

Reading the paper is becoming enjoyable again.

Now, where did those plans for passenger trains go...I know, it was part of
federation funding. Damn!
