Re: Boronia Rail Crossing

: As at 16.00 on Tues.3.11, work at Boronia was running 8-12 hours late (but
: there was supposedly a 12 h margin). It was not yet certain that the first
: trains on Wednesday would be able to use the new station. Locals were
: advised to telephone Boronia station late in the evening.

When I was there at about 23:30 they were putting up signs saying:
"No Trains until further notice, buses from Erica Av, Old Station"

At 00:30 they were loading the tamping machine onto a truck and they had
finished tamping and spreading the blue metal with all the track machines.
They still had to put in two sections of overhead on the Up line at the
ends where the new section joins the old section of track. They were also
doing many other odd jobs like welding track together, small earthworks etc
but most plant was idle and the only real thing to be done was the overhead.

But I can confirm that the first train will not be running, and I was told
about 10:00am or later Wednesday for the first train. Buses will run until
then.
