What the RAC has forgoten that these locomotives have regenitive braking and
as a result are feeding electricity back into the system thus saving on
electricity.  As a side note. Before all this competion crap began.  Up coal
trains used to run in the afternoon peak to save electricity costs caused by
the down interurbans going up the mountains.   Ah well thats this wonderful
competition for you.
