Melbourne Central Station

Hi all

Just thought I'd mention that I was a Melbourne Central Station platform
4 the other day and noted that they had finally gotten around to
updating the signs (they were inaccurate for many years). Interestingly
next to the panels on the side of the tunnel which detail the network
there are large blacked out areas. 

I am not sure whether there used to be advertising there or not but it
seems strange that the area has been blacked out. Has anyone any idea of
what was there previously?
