The ruling grade for up trains is 1:66 curve compensated , whilst the down 
line is 1:40 .
The spiral and the Frampton deviation were built primarily to reduce the 
ruling grade for up trains to no worse than 1:66 all the way to Sydney.
Its a shame that no such vision applied south of Junee.
