Re: Steam heating and low voltage hep



While looking at locos at Cardiff before the auction a few years back a 48
class was pointed out to us by Stephen Preston. He said it was one of the
locos converted for heating but it wasn't successful due to the power being
taken from the main traction generator. I can't remember how he said it was
connected, but I remember him saying that the power supplied to the heating
fluctuated as the current supplied to the traction motors changed. The only
difference on the outside of the loco was a small junction box on the buffer
beam.
