I see natural gas mentioned, but what about fiber-optic cable along this line?
The "Steel Mississippi" would run at speeds of up to 300 kmh
from Melbourne via Shepparton; Griffith, Parkes, Dubbo and
Moree, in New South Wales; Goondiwindi, Toowoomba, Emerald,
Longreach and Mount Isa, in Queensland; Tennant Creek, in the
Northern Territory, and to Darwin.

The Australian Transport and Energy Corridor - a group of
former politicians and business people - said no public money was
needed, but legislative support from five governments was vital.
