Darwin to Alice railway



In todays N.T.News (19-1-98), it is reported that the government is set to
flush out Aboriginal groups who intend to making land claims on the Darwin
to Alice Springs
rail corridor. The office of the Lands Minister, Mick Palmer, confirmed
yesterday,
Aborigines who had, or claimed to have, native title claims, or interests
in the land 
would have untill Febuary 13 to lodge any claims.

In a differant artical, the leader of the opposition (Labor), Mrs Maggie
Hickey,
said she would seek a commitment from federal labor, to match, or better
the 
federal governments funding of 100 million dollars for the railway, at the
national
conferance in Hobart.
