Yes and no. Had Cowan happened in Victoria (e.g. a Comeng EMU running into
the back of a Steamrail train) the death toll would have been higher, but
not on the steam train. The anti-telescoping bars on VR wooden carriages
would cut through a stainless steel EMU like a hot knife through butter.
