I noticed today (13/2) that the Flinders St. concourse barriers are now set
to half for inbound, and half for outbound. It seems to work much better as
a result (surprise!) The barriers at Melbourne Central were still all set
to bi-directional.

It would if you bought a ticket worth more than $10 (e.g. a weekly). The
limit is up to $10 in change.

I don't believe the machines will ever issue a note as change. Has anyone
ever seen an automatic vending machine which does (besides bank ATMs)?
