Er, given my experience of public transport in Australia, New Zealand and
the UK, three countries where change is routinely given on board street
public transport vehicles, the operator would be delighted to accept my
$100 (or £100) note for an 80c (or 80p) fare.

And give me the change in 20c and 50c (20p and 50p) pieces.

They do this because it makes it so much easier to cash up at the end of
their shift.
