Well as a last resort,how about a pair of CPHs .
ACT ARHS have 2 that work I beleive,one at least goes pretty fast,been in it a
couple of times
They seem pretty reliable,really ancient.
In fact how far out of NSW has a CPH ever got,maybe not even to Albury.
Would be cheap to run,the lack of airconditioning could be a problem,so travel
in winter and then could use the gas heaters.
Finding some ASR / PTC drivers who could drive one might be a bit problamatic.
