In our last episode <34D7F797.E2D@gcstaff.ins.gu.edu.au> on Wed, 04 Feb

That's correct. The secrecy thing seems to be normal (as with other
timetable releases, the Doomben timetables hit the shelves only the
Thursday before!). It all seemed very political -- the Libs/Nats promised
to reopen the line if they won office when David Hamill (ALP) closed it
(and many more) in 1993. Well they did win, and a state election is due
this year.

The rail timetables are online:

Clayfield, Hendra and Ascot have been surprisingly done up to such an
extent that they all platform surfaces have been (re)bitumened and TVMs,
Help Phones and Telstra Payphones installed. Doomben remained open for
freight and only required a TVM and a Help Phone to be installed, although
extra seating and rubbish receptacles were also installed.

It's single track just after Eagle Junction until through Ascot then just
before Doomben.

Another reason for the bus services remaining could also be so that the
level of service isn't reduced.
