When the "4D" first went into regular service, there was one guard who
used to announce the latest weather report, and often the evening news!
Sure made some of those boring winter evening trips a bit more
interesting! :-)

This was a few years ago, long before PAs started being used in the
Comengs & before they were installed in the Hitachis.....
