>From my experience, less than half of the drivers on the Lilydale/Belgrave
lines make any announcements. The other problem is that when they do make
then, quite often you can't understand them anyway - either the PA system
is too soft, too loud (and distorted), or bad feedback.
There have also been many occassions where there have been stops between
stations (sometime for over 5 mins) and other unusual delays, yet no
announcements - arrggggg!

I've also travelled on other lines (esp. St. Albans & Broady) and NEVER
heard any announcements on those trains....

About half way between E. Richmond and the Swan St bridge there are big signs
which say "Have you made an announcement yet?" Still, many drivers don't!
