Since the Melb - Adelaide line is in reality a new line , there is no
historical basis on which to run a diesel hauled train .
The reasons given by all the previous posts for not running steam are all
valid.
If we accept that it could be viable to run a diesel hauled pass, with vintage
diesels, then how about using diesels that have never run between Melb and
Adelaide ,either on BG or SG.
Can anyone comment on whether a B class has ever gotten to Adelaide.
If so , a good combination totally foreign to the line would be a 421 + 43 or
if the 421 is to close to an S ,how about a 43 plus a BHP K class.
Getting a Westrail L class would be a bit too hard.
