The Scotrail Caledonian sleeping car trains from Euston still split into
Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fort William, Aberdeen and Inverness portions. Amtrak
also has through cars between many trains.

It's done at Werris Creek every day. Another example of splitting is the
18.30 Bendigo/Echuca on Fridays, and Bendigo Sprinter trains detaching one
at Sunbury.

I've also seen it done at Gosford with loaded V sets. In Jan 1997 I
travelled from newcastle to Sydney. It was a 4 car V set ex-Newcastle, and
another was added to the front at Gosford.
