Re: Motive Power Editor or God of Rail?

Sorry for my misleadinf reply. I was referring to the Royal "we" or "you" or "us"
but nobody in particular. I was an editor for some years of a specialist railway
journal and would never regard myself as an expert in the field but I like to like
that I know a little about the subject. In fact I have always held the view that
editors would never be experts but merely know enough about all facets of their
subject to recognise when something maybe not quite right and the refer it to
someone who does. So when something came up rather than wade in I would ask around
first before trying to right a wrong. I think that Darren Yates summed it up for all
of us when he suggested that grace and tact is a very necessary ingredient for
correcting errors and observations.

I hope I have offended nobody - this time, it was not intentional.

David Langley.
