There is a bus (?!) that runs from Cootamundra to Dubbo conecting with
daytime XPT. Not sure if it meets the northbound or just the
southbound.

Don't expect too much on time running if travelling during hot
weather. WOLO conditions restrict XPTs to 90 km/h.

Alternatively you could catch the Overland or Ghan from Melbourne to
Adelaide then the IP to Orange EFJ then the slug to Dubbo.
