The Barry Beach line was in use from 2-4-1969 til 30-6-1992.
There were other branch lines to Strzelecki, Wonthaggi & various coal mines,
Outtrim & Coal Creek area including Strezlecki (note the different spelling)
and Port Welshpool (ng horse drawn tramway).

An Australian atlas of railway lines is proposed for publishing in the near
future and a team of people from the various states have been compiling a lot
of data for it. Many previously accepted dates of opening and closing have been
proved a little incorrect and it is hoped that research for this atlas will get
it right, or more so than before.
