Lost messages - Help!

Can anyone help? I am new to newsgroups.
I saved all the selected "Mark message for download" for all the responses
to my queries about gradients, & they seemed to have downloaded (I could
read them offline).
I have MS Outlook Express set to keep messages for 30 days.
All the material has vanished, & is no longer available on the news server
to download again.
Is there any way I can get it back?
