Re: Vic Tangaras

<<<<<<> Actually these trains have been known as Silvers, Marting and Kings

never heard them called that>>>>>>

A little bit of history. Prior to the introduction of Harris trains the sparks
were simply called "sliding door" or "swing doors" When the Harris trains came
out they were called "Blue trains" to distinguse them from the "red trains".
This practice continued when the Hitachi's were introduced and they were known
as "silvers"

Old VR newsletters often called them "Martin and King" at the time of their
introduction. The blokes in the field called them "silvers". Only later did the
term "Hitachi" come into general use.
