[Melb] Eastern suburbs bus operation changes

A couple of major route rearrangements in Melbourne's outer East
would take place as from Monday 14th December 1998. The bus
companies involved are Invicta Bus, Ventura Bus Lines and
Moorabbin Transit. A new information sheet has been posted on
most buses from Ventura Knox Depot and possibly Invicta/Moorabbin
buses as well. The same sheet is also advertised in local newspaper.
Major changes as follows:

Invicta Route 691 Bayswater - Waverley Gardens,
via Boronia, Ferntree Gully and Stud Park
(was Boronia - Monash)
Route extended, plus some re-routing in Ferntree Gully area.

Invicta Route 664 Chirnside Park - Knox City,
via Croydon and Bayswater
(was Croydon - Knox City)
Route extended, and connection is provided with 691 at Bayswater
on Sunday to provide quick run from Lilydale to Waverley Gardens.

Route 634 Lilydale - Croydon likely to be cancelled, but 
still required confirmation.

Ventura Route 737 Croydon - Monash,
via Boronia, Knox City and Glen Waverley
Extra service between Boronia and Glen Waverley.

Ventura Route 736 Blackburn - Mitcham, 
via Forest Hill, Burwood East, Glen Waverley and Vermont South
Re-routed to via Rooks Road and Maroondah Highway to terminate
at north side of Mitcham railway station. 
(Formerly via Mitcham Road and terminate at south side of station)
Off peak service reduced from 30 minutes to 40 minutes.
Saturday service cut from 30 minutes to 40 minutes and
terminate at Glen Waverley instead of Monash.
Former shuttle between Glen Waverley and Monash will cease to
operate, and Route 737 and 736 will connect at Glen Waverley
for through service between Mitcham and Monash.

Route 755 Knox - Bayswater.
Re-routed

Moorabin Transit 631 Southland - Waverley Gardens,
via Clayton and Monash 
(was Southland - Monash)
Extended to Waverley Gardens to cover the re-routing of 
Route 691.

Route 708 Carrum - Hampton
Better connection with route 820/1 to provide smooth ride
for Carrum - Mordialloc - Southland - Hampton.

On Wednesday (9/12) the 1929 Reo from Ventura was at 
Glen Waverley to promote the changes. Sure this is the most
high-profile announcement of service changes for a while!
