Cityrail's, State Transit's and SLR's ticketing systems do have a date
problem, but it isn't Y2K. The date is encoded on the ticket as a 12
bit number, counting the number of days since December 31, 1989.

Expect Cityrail's manual gates to get a workout on March 19, 2001.
