G'day.

As others have reported, these cars had been run into the ground and
maintenance deferred with the impending arrival of new Endeavour
stock. At the request of railway preservation groups, a policy has
been introduced whereby surpus rolling stock can first be offered to
eligible railway preservation groups at a reduced price before being
offered for public disposal. The surplus DEB, 620 & 660 class cars
were offered with applications closing on 6 March last. A decision
should be announced shortly as to the successful applicants.

Pete.
