The track is a main line and used by a large number of freight trains. Most
of them run at night apart from the empty limestone train to Medway which is
normally late afternoon and one or two NR trains.
As part of the planned Maldon-Dombarton line the line from Unanderra to
Dombarton was duplicated, had most of the masts for electrification
installed, and a bridge was built to replace the level crossing over the
Princes Highway at Unanderra. It was intended to electrify the line at 25kV
AC but even if the line is ever finished this may not happen.
The wonky track goes to Tubemakers Kembla Grange plant (formerly known as
Stewart's and Lloyds). It is still in use but only with 48 class and two or
three wagons at a time at very low speed. I will have to take some video of
it as the train is accompanied by large amounts of flange squealing all the
way from the junction to the level crossing on West Dapto Road.
BTW fencing has been installed along most of the Moss Vale line at
Farmborough Heights, I'm not sure how far it goes yet.
