Of course 3x3 Comeng would hold more than a single 4DD!
I still don't see your point - that is like saying that four Boeing 767's
seat more than a Boeing 747, so we therefore should get rid of all 747's.
The reality is that in Melbourne, the platforms are only long enough for a
six-car Comeng train, and the equivalent DD train, (2x4DD) would hold more
passengers.
