The Overland belongs in another era, an era that past
us by many years ago, sadly, that is fact.
People must realise that short haul Interstate and
Intrastate Passenger trains were dead meat years ago.
It does not matter whether they have a Club Car or a
Cafeteria Car or snacks after lights out, the general
public will not use them.! It is that simple.
The South Australian Railways knew that, Australian
National Railways and Australian National also.
The best you can hope for is a "cruise ship" Ghan
service from Melb after the two year "contract" with
GSR for the Overland expires.
