Had a couple of days out at Parkes this week and thought a few people
might be interested in what went on. As reported earlier in the
Newsgroup there were problems with the XPT out of Sydney on Wed 15/4
causing a 30 minute delay to WL33 out of Orange behind 8101.42218
42219 and 42207 were at Orange in the large shed opposite the station
awaiting radio testing duties.

8137 worked 9872 to Manildra. On 16/4 8182 left Parkes at 0750 on 8M87
which consisted of former sleeping cars - now track evaluation
vehicles - AK2382 FAM2384 and AK2383 heading back to Sydney.8148 was
at Manildra on the Manildra-Mungincoble shuttle with the former 49
class MM01 performing shunting duties. At Orange both 42218 and 42219
were out on radio testing (singly) and we caught up with 42219 at
Parkes as it was heading back to Orange at 1550 as D442.

The next morning (17/4) NR's 31 and 111 arrived at Goobang on the
usual long length PS6 and detached to pick up failed NR101 from the
depot. To speed things up 8241 was sent to Goobang to haul the train -
and the three NR's which had attached to the rear of the train - into
Parkes. PS6 ended up leaving an hour late at 0900.On the way home we
saw SP5 at Bredalbane with a very short train and only one NR up
front. The docks dispute must be starting to have some affect on
traffic.
