I caught the above train, travelling in sleeping car Allambi, a little
apprehensive about Great Serco Railway's management of the service.

Consist was an NR loco, "Explorer" power van, Allambi, Tawarri, first class
sit-up coach, economy/snack car, economy car, IP baggage van and motorail
trailer with a solitary vehicle.

The china cups in the sleepers were gone, replaced with foam cups, and of
course the Club Car was absent, but breakfast was served to the first class
passengers' cabins and was the usual Overland fare of cereal, milk, tea/coffee,
preserved peach and a Balfour's sultana muffin.

Departure and arrival was a few minutes late, but there was still time to
connect with the XPT.

If the Club Car was returned and the Victorian track were upgraded it would
be a quite reasonable service.
