Two steam trains on line

On Sunday 12 April the line from Demondrille (Harden) to Cowra saw 2 steam
trains in operation. 3801 and train were running around between
Demondrille and Young (Demondrille-Koorawatha section) while LVR's 5367 and
train were running between Cowra and Koorawatha. How long since this sort
of thing has happened? Word is that 3801 was at it's maximum load for the
section and had some difficulties, due to the slight amount of rain that
actually fell (enough to settle the dust). It hasn't rained out that way
for some time and the bush fire brigade did not want LVR to run from Cowra
to Holmood (LVR confines) due to the dead grass and fire risk. Since
FreightCorp turned up at Cowra on Saturday to load a train of something
(not grain), the day's running had to be either cancelled, or run every
trip to Holmwood. So Holmwood it was.

Also of note along this line is the amount of upgrading work taking place.
Resleepering with both steel and timber sleepers has happened over most of
this line. About every 4th sleeper is steel, with some other sleepers being
replaced with timber. Why not all just replace all with steel? Is this a
sign that this line will be closing soon?!
