Maybe - but not vastly cheaper. The Pensioner economy fare from Sydney to
Melbourne (not using a voucher - there are limited seats for vouchers at
peak periods which, after all, is the period under discussion) is $45 - a
saving of 50% off the Adult fare of $90. However, Greyhound-Pioneer offer a
20% discount for students and pensioners - their fare is $60 for the
limited-stop super express, or $50 for the normal service - this equates to
fares of $48 and $40 for pensioners and students.

As we saw with the outcry from the oldies when they realised they were being
overcharged by $1 for show tickets, they chase every last cent, so cost is
not really the issue here.
