Well the thread has little to do with the purpose of the group. I have
hardly bothered to read most of the last few dozen posts. However you
might have a hard time getting fanatics to shift it.

It's all ho-hum and deja-vu from where I live. We got rid of our
remaining militant unions in 1991 here, and militant waterfront unions
went some years before that. Never looked back, either. There has
hardly been a strike in this formerly strike-ridden country since 1991,
yet wages have risen steadily (if slowly) and employment is the highest
in our history. The Australian unions are dinosaurs in comparison.
Most unions here work in co-operation with employers to maximise the
benefits for workers and employers, not for the benefit of the union
executive. Radical idea that, but it works.
