I was just wondering what the base salary is of wharfies is then what is
salary of our federal politician I know that many years ago it was expected
that railway personnel were expected to start and finish at the request of
the roster/relief clerks often working in excess of 10 hours per day and 13
days per fortnight I know of times when one baulked at working the
roster/relief clerks would say if you don't want to work get a job
somewhere else and to get your Annual leave when you wanted it was a
lottery. You could find out you were on leave as from the following Monday
at 5 pm the previous Friday wonderful for family life. So I had no problem
with the allowances they paid me in fact if one works the aprox hours I had
to then one could equal the $70,000 sum so often bandied around by the
Govt. It brings tears to my eye's seeing anyone that could support Patricks
or or Honest Federal Government
