It's nice to hope that organised labour can still stand up for itself by
calling on international friends. Especially in a country where it is now
(mostly) illegal to stand up for yourself or to support your *own* causes.
Yes, there has been as much corruption and plenty of unfair labour movement
strikes/boycotts. etc over the years. The laws are now such that it is very
difficult for workers to stand up for themselves. It's like a big pendulum
though, and one day it will swing back, and it will probably swing back too
far. That doesn't mean that the present situation is not completely unfair to
people who have few other means of defending themselves from employers who
have no regard for the long or short term wlefare of their employees.
It's a *human*right* to be able to withdraw your labour - whether in concert
with like minded people or not.

be made to back off.

Welcome to America. Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. Low, low
unemployment rates(rigged), stuff all social welfare, no national health care
system, massive ghettos and a large underclass. Where the almighty dollar is
King. They are in no way a social people, and we are following right down
that same path. There's not a thing you can do to stop it.

Here, here! A fair days work should = a fair days pay. A fair days pay = a
living wage. Social welfare, state provided health care and education. Sure
nothing should be completely free, lest people abuse it, but it sucks that
when people need services, they can't afford them.

Erm, the whole planet's been down that path before, and the people who went
into those times with nothing mostly came out the other end with the same.
That's not much of a solution.
Can't help being cynical when everywhere you look and read are hollow promises
and outright lies from political and business leaders.
