There's no need to insult someone just because they have a different opinion to you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't that finish already? I doubt anyone (Union or Worker) is left from those days so it's irrellevant.

>That's the same union and more today who are still holding Australia >to ransom.

Getting illegally sacked is holding the country to ransom?

> No one's against unions,

The government is. patricks is.

>just unpatriotic officers that use their union power to blackmail > all decent Australians who want to make something of themselves.

Unionists are usually very patriotic, especially blue collar workers. Certainly more so than office employees

>Why should waterside workers consider themselves better than everyone else

I've yet to hear them make any such claim.

>and not do a fair days work for a fair days pay,

You always believe everything the media tells you?

> make everyone else pay extra for imports and earn less for exports,

The overseas studies have shown that de-unionising the waterfront has not resulted in any reduction of charges - just larger profits to the shareholders.

>be held hostage by a few hundred workers who are only interested in their selfish >interests and not the good of all Australians.

Lay the blame where it belongs. All ports were increasing productivity, the companies themselves have said so in print. The problem started with the collusion and illegal activities of reith and corrigan.

>If what you said is true the ACTU would have called a general strike >and not just given lip service to the dispute.

They can't. The trade practices act forbids secondary boycots. See it's only reith and corrigan breaking the laws.

> It'd he a brave President who would have said piss-off to the MUA

President of what?

> - you must appear to be giving some support even when you know >the MUA is harming every other unionist in Australia by its refusal > to enter meaningful negotiations.

The MUA has been negotiating and increasing productivity and abiding by reith's industrial relations laws. This didn't suit reith and corrigan so they breached reith's industrial relations laws and illegally sacked 2,000 workers.

>Even the ALP knows there a problem an tired to fix up the productivity >problem with a $420 million "bribe" all to no avail.

Productivity increased and has been increasing consistently.

Note now that the security guards illegally used illegal mace at Darling Harbour, to spray Workers, cameramen and cops.
