I'm making no comment about any of the politics of it all (not touching
it with a 50' pole), I'm interested the immediate and longer term
ramifications for rail....
A lengthy docks dispute would be VERY bad news for NR, and also V/Line
Freight..and anyone else who carries export/import shipping containers.
Basically a very major sector of their operation would dry up. Could we
see many NRC and V/Line Freight (and the like) employees pushed onto
"annual leave" or indeed layed off to absorb the period with major
traffic reduction?
