The trailing bogie of the 5 pack was rerailed by the Cootamundra breakdown
crew, inspected, and allowed to continue on SP5, departing the scene after
midnight.
Both North and South bound XPT's (ST1 & ST2) were worked passed the site via
the Up refuge siding with the South bound XPT continuing to Wallendbeen
"wrong road". Both trains were delayed less than 30 minutes.
Several NR trains were severely delayed with 7SM5 being stowed at Goulburn
and YN2 being stowed at Junee. 7MB2 and 6AB6 were delayed by up to 3 hours
at Junee and Wagga Wagga respectively.
South bound trains were restricted to 530 metres (the distance between the
northern crossover and the derailment) to allow trains to reverse to the Up
main and work passed the derailment to Wallendbeen via the Up main until the
line was reopened.
