I'm no particular fan of privatisation for the sake of privatisation,
but considering how Wisconsin Central, as part owner of TranzRail in
New Zealand have performed, it could actually be very good news for
Melbourne.

It is not as if the Met had been a shining example of a well run
service. It arguably would be very hard for anyone to run it as badly
as it has been run this last decade or so.

Wisconsin Central have proven themselves very capable of operating a
quality service capable of attracting significant passengers and
freight back to rail. Isn't this what we want a rail system to do?
