It appears to be only "half finished". They did the earthworks, laid
out the concrete sleepers, laid the rails, dropped some ballast and
started running trains. It undulates like you wouldn't believe - all
the bridges and culverts were built quite a bit higher than the rest of
the trackbed, suggesting they were expecting far more ballast to be
laid. On paper you'd reckon it's what you want, ie 60kg/m rail on
concrete sleepers - in reality, it's far worse than the adjacent BG
lines. Must be quite a ride for the NR drivers!
