Yesterday Michael Photios was again out claiming a cover up on the
report of the Beresfield accident. He also claimed that on 25/3 there
was a "near head on" accident between an XPT and a freight train at
Kyogle. He went on to say that the XPT with 300 passengers came within
50 metres of hitting the freight train that was on the same track. "the
Sydney - Brisbane XPT was traveling at 30 Kph and it was on of several
similar incidents occurring each year". "We have a rundown system,
hopelessly underfunded in major crisis (of course) with more than 700
infrastructure and signal failures every three months" . He crapped on
with more waffle and also said "When you are talking about those that
have been seriously injured in that accident, who were given assurances
that they would see the report, its adding insult to injury". Who were
the people that where seriously injured??
It gets better. He went on to say "Hundreds of signal and infrastructure
failures were occurring on train lines each month and a full public
inquiry into the state of the NSW track system should have been
instituted rather than an inquiry limited to the causes of the
Beresfield crash". Is this guy for real!!! The reply from the Ministers
office was that the full report into the Beresfield accident was
complete and being printed for public release. Poor Mr Photios. He
should get out of his office and have a look at the real world for a
change. I wonder when he last used Public Transport????
