East Hills Line track maintance

I have not seen any mention of it elsewhere, but today marks a major
event in track maintance in NSW and Austalia.

At midnight last night Fluor Daniel became responsible for the carrying
out of track, signal and traction power maintenance on the East Hills
line.

FD have an alliance contract with the Rail Access Corporation to carry
out this work, and in the last few weeks have been hiring a crew,
gaining accridation under the Rail safety act, procuring equipment and
spares etc.

Over the next couple of years, all maintenance in NSW will be
progressivly let out to tender in this way, with Rail Service Authority
being just another contractor.

The contract for Blacktown - Richmond has been let, and Waterfall -
Bombaderry is out for tender.
