According to my 3801 Newsletter, the first scheduled passenger run for
3830 will be on Wednesday 22 October around the Bankstown line for
mambers of the Powerhouse Museum - the owners of 3830. 

The first public run will be on Saturday 25th October. 3801 will take a
train up to Maitland (starting at Lidcombe) and then return
double-header with 3830 after a commissioning/commemoration ceremony at
the Hunter Valley Training Company, East Greta, where much of 3830s
restoration took place.
