I don't know Terry's source. Mine give:
connection of rails - 17.10.1917
first westbound pass. - 22.10 ex Port Augusta, arr. Kalgoorlie 24.10
first eastbound pass. - 25.10 ex Kalgoorlie.
The 50th anniversary was celebrated over 20 & 21.10.1967.
